Re: Acceptable Amount Of Sensor Cleaning?

I have been cleaning the anti-aliasing filter on my DSLRs (d100, D2x, D3, D3x) regularly using the Eclipse system. Since I mainly shoot desert and ocean I tend to get some dust on the filter, especially when changing lenses or when it is windy.

The only time I had an issue with scratching was on my D100 when a bit of metal (I assume from the lens mount) slightly scratched the filter. Fortunately it did not affect the IQ, but I have used the Delkin SensorScope ever since to check out what type of debris was on the filter before cleaning. The only other debris that I am really careful with is pollen, since some types can be pretty hard also. I always lift the pad as I go across the sensor so a clean area is always touching the filter and the debris is lifted up onto the pad and not pulled across the filter.
