Zactly. And like another certain company that released a camera without the ability to turn off NR, but came out with (what many considered, incl. myself) a major f/w update to fix that problem later. That same company wouldn't be releasing a f/w update to recognize lenses that should've already been recognized since most were already in production. They sound a lot like Sony (insert broken dpreview wink emoticon here)

Engineers aren't perfect and don't always get it right the first time, so major firmware updates are welcomed AFAIC. But this particular one, if true, will make me yawn.
