GH2 does thru it's mini-HDMI port, in full HD, as, of course, the GH3 does.

Thanks, Pete, so G3 and G5 cannot do this "trick" at all? Supposedly with GH2, the video outputted is always "dirty" i.e. with the data overlays visible, so you cannot really record that, whereas with the GH3 you can select dirty or totally clean with no burn-ins. which would make it recordable at that low 4:2:0 chroma, 8-bit color quality.

One caveat, though, with the GH3: for a clean output, you have to turn off the live view highlight blinkies, which I found through Michale's LuLa field review:

The Atomos Ninja-2 recorder, which he reviews thoroughly separately, seems to be a fabulous piece of work, able to record 4:2:2/10-bit color, as well as having focus peaking available on it's 5" screen. I assume this would be active in stills work as well.. It's light enough to mount to the flash shoe, and would be a dynamite legacy lens multimedia wildlife rig. But pricy at $1000 sans storage options
