How much should a cleaning kit be and is it nessecary? Does brand matter?

90% of the time the cloth will be adequate, but as Doug explained, you don't want to grind in grit that may not be readily apparent, so a quick pass of the brush will dislodge any harmful foreign particles.

The blower is also handy in tight places like the camera mirror box or in the cavity by the rear lens element. The link I provided in my last post quotes a price under $15 incl shipping and that includes a brush, solvent, blower and MF cloth.......btw, those blowers are also good for cleaning dusty keyboards.....
