FZ200 f2.8 constant aperture

Thanks for taking the time to explain some of the complexities involved in determining the aperture size. I wish I could understand it completely, but what you say makes sense to me.

Most zoom lens have a lower f/stop at wideangle than they do at telephoto. The FZ200 (and the old FZ10/20) ... in my limited experience ... are rare exceptions with a constant f/ratio through the entire zoom range. In my simple minded way of thinking, if one can get f/2.8 at 600mm, one should be able to do better than f/2.8 at 25mm. But ... as I pointed out earlier ... I know absolutely nothing about lens design.
