Re: 7D and Lens selection

I have the Canon  35-350L and 70-200 mk II , Sigma  135-400 and 180 macro , Quantaray lens 70-300 macro .

Most of my BIF shot are UFO's [ unidentified flying objects  ]

I would go cheap - Sigma  135-400 or Quantaray lens 70-300 macro to learn what you are doing and to see if it is worth your time to learn . You can get these 2 lenses cheap used [ they weren't when I got them new ]

Getting good shots is hard enough , but then go to BIF , Macro , flash , or anew camera can be very time consuming .

For me , the push / pull -  35-350L and , Sigma  135-400 and 180 macro , Quantaray lens 70-300 macro are easier to use than the twist type - 70-200 mk II + 2X III .

There is also a difference in which birds you want to shoot . A humming bird in back yard is different than a diving raptor / wood pecker / owl in a tree .
