Arguably, a better (and cheaper option) would be the Tamron AF 55-200mm F/4-5.6 Di-II LD Macro.  Very nice colour rendition (about as close to Minolta as you can get) and for the price, an absolute no-brainer if you're looking for a cheap intermediate zoom.  Sharp more or less throughout the range and I can recommend it no problem.  Unless you pay plenty O' money for an 80-200/2.8 APO (Tamron/Minolta/Sigma/Tokina), I would suggest a Sigma AF 100-300mm F4 EX DG (IF) APO.  It's all the lens you need . . trust me on that one
