Which is more important depends on what you're shooting (as you demonstrate in your post).  If you absolutely cannot make up your mind, maybe a superzoom/vacation lens would be best, though of course there are other tradeoffs.

Sometimes a telephoto lens can work very well for landscapes; it depends on the landscape.  For static things like (most) landscapes, you always stitch a whole bunch of shots together if you have a telephoto lens and an expansive landscape.

On the other hand, you can always crop from a shot that's too wide, but you can't uncrop a single shot with an insufficient angle of view.
