Order this (no that)?

I also think some folks don't see the distinction between pre-orders and special orders.

Pre-orders are for wildly popular items that are in strong demand. These are probably the most profitable things a store can sell, since they usually sell at full list price. Often, there are waiting lists, so if you cancel an order the store loses nothing. They just sell it to the next person on the list.

Listen, the GH3 is on PRE-ORDER because B&H does not have any.... nor do they seem to be able to get any (along with most of the other stores out there as well, of course).

Not quite sure how do you deduct from thins that a camera that ISN'T can be "profitable" to B&H or any other retailer?

Special orders are for things that are rare and hard to sell.

The Lumix GH3 readily qualifies as a "Special Order" item under this simple criteria -- how much harder can it be to sell something than not even having the product to sell in the first place, after all?
