It's fine. Works great. Nothing more to say really. It's a fast laptop of course it will run Windows.

I wouldn't be so sure. Bootcamp from Apple provides drivers to make sure that Windows 7 runs fine. I would check if Windows 8 is on the list of Bootcamp supported Windows versions before I tried.

I have a 40GB of my 512GB SSD reserved for a windows bootcamp partition and use a USB 3.0 attached 256GB SSD for additional windows installed applications.

I won't be upgrading the retina to windows 8 as there is zero benefit given my usage pattern.
