Most photographers don't look at charts and graphs to figure out what camera they should upgrade to next year. Most are like Pete, they see their is an upgrade to their model and they upgrade. Do you think that Pete even has the time to try out a different brand, and then find the time to sell off all his equipment, when he will be on the assignment tomorrow to shoot the president at his next teleprompted speech?

Most people don't look at graphs when they buy a new camera. They look at pictures to decide if they like the noise performance, color etc. If they are interested in AF they would look for user experience or will try themselves before they buy. Photography is visual. Picture is the end result. So when pictures (and comparisons) are readily available to see for themselves why would people go for surrogate markers? They usually don't. Graphs are interesting and it is just that for most photographers. Graphs even don't tell you if shadow lifting exposes bands or not.

Actually, traditional review sites such as dpreview tell us more than we need to know before we buy a new camera.
