Important underground pics for PhD research. Stitch photos for wide angles or use a wide angle lens?

sigma 8-16

I've got both the sigma 8-16 and tokina 11-16. Since you don't need a fast lens, the sigma offers wider coverage, and with the wider coverage and access to photoshop (30 day free trial?) the panos you'd get with overlapping shots, even if you simply moved manually your tripod would be excellent. I'm a physician in Houston and often do research in radiology; if you only need the lens for a few weeks, I could ship it over to you as long as you promise to send it back! You can email me personally and let me know. Good luck,
