D700 single card slot means no backup concerns

I have the opportunity to buy a second camera in addition to a D300. I shoot a several weddings each year as well a portraits. I seem always to be fighting for light so I have been seriously looking at a D600. Problem is that the body is £1400 whereas the D7000 body is just £650 at the moment. For the time being I would have to use my DX lenses on the D600 if I went that way. . I have a 50mm f1.8d, 35mm f1.8 AFS, 18-105 f3.5 vr.

However I could get a used D700 for less than a D600. Seems like an obvious solution. My concern is that the D700 only has a single card slot so I have NO backup which would make me a little nervous to say the least when shooting a wedding. I have hard a couple of cards fail on me in the past. Anyone any experience or advice about this?

Will the D700 work with my DX lenses in the way the D600 does?
