Hi Larry,

That depends on how you define "performance." For the landscape photographer, as well as for several other professional uses, the latest Foveon based Sigma cameras are "very" competitive.

I too use many other types of (CFA based) cameras including Canon, Nikon, Sony and Olympus, but I have yet to use one for landscapes which I would trade for my DP2 Merrill. The low ISO image quality is superb and this opinion has been voiced by numerous major publications and reviewers who have been astonished by the lens quality, resolution, micro-contrast, color, detail and enlargeability.

Sigma Foveons are "fun to play with" but they cant hold up against the performance almost every manufacturer gets from the Bayer Array, right now, real world.
