Locktight or Permatex sells some thread-fix compound which is like an epoxy along with some release stuff you smear on the handle's threads.  Might not be suitable for constant use though.

A metric Heli-Coil would be probably be too expensive as they usually come in a kit.  A new 5011 head is only $59 from B&H and may be the way to go, and much cheaper than doing some heliarc fill in the aluminum and then trying to machine in some more threads.
