On the other hand, MTF curves canbe objective if one compares the contrast ratio at Nyquist (0.5 cycles/px). In the curves I published above, the SD1M had a slightly better MTF at Nyquist than the Fuji. That would bode better micro-contrast but a greater susceptibility to aliasing. Seems like we can't have the one without the other

Of course micro-contrast isn't everything but, as a watch photographer, it's high on my list camera properties.
