Roland, I was really talking about Foveon sensors, I should havemade that a little clearer. Is the diagonal resolution 30% better on Foveon sensors, or were you talking about sensors with CFA's?

The resolution for monochrome and Foveon sensors are 30% higher on the diagonal. Draw lines through the pixels and you see that the lines are nearer on the diagonal. Dont forget that there are both odd and even diagonals.

Food for thought that, Roland! Now I understand.

When it is drawn like that, lines are indeed closer (x 0.707), even though the pixel centers (assuming 100% fill) are further apart (x 1.414).
