Backyard hawk

I believe this is a red-shouldered hawk. We find piles of feather-bits on the occasional morning, and believe them to be his handiwork.

I came across him poking in the leaves late this afternoon, likely searching for his keys

ISO 400 f:2.8

Didn't seem too happy to have me in the neighborhood and flew into a nearby tree, with a most innocent "Kermit the Hawk" look

This and subsequent images ISO 100, f/2.8 minus approx 1 EV

Looked around for a bit

Threw me an "if you were a bit smaller, you'd be lunch" look

and then flew off.

All FZ200, full zoom, cropped, raw. Underexposed approx on stop because of substantial backlighting.

Tuned in SPPro5.0 using the "I think this makes it look better" method - typically a mix of exposure adjustment, HDR, and noise removal.
