Moderator : Sorry can't remember your name. I think there was probably a misunderstanding here, this is what he posted that I was referring to. He even said he pushed it 5 stops. Don't you think this is -- welll.  I don't know how else to put it.

I've been considering a new camera and it's now between the D5200 and the Canon T4i. Of course they both have their good points. The Nikon has great image quality and great high ISO. I'm leaning toward the 5200 now thanks to Reilly, thanks again. I have no preferences as for brand, just what works for me.

JPEGs aren't suitable for banding testing because their limited tonality clips blacks, which hides the banding. Here's a raw sample, pushed 5 stops in LR3 to make the banding easier to see:
