Lot of aggressive posting in this thread from the same 3/4 users.

Ive owned and loved the 5N and now own the 6. To my eye (and at 100% view with a lot of pics) there is no perceptable difference between the 2 sensors. This is backed up by dxomark figures:

  • nex 6 - 78
  • nex 5r - 78
  • nex 5n - 77|0/%28brand%29/Sony/%28appareil2%29/826|0/%28brand2%29/Sony/%28appareil3%29/737|0/%28brand3%29/Sony

The figures are close enough to suggest limits of sample size / experimental error as the difference.

It obvious and reviews concur that the sensors are effectivley identical in performance and this is borne out in real world usage from the review sites.

I suggest the aggressive posters calm down. The 5N is a fabulous little camera, there's no need to be so defensive over it.

But in low light condition,  N is  better, and it's more than perceptible.
