I have used the DK-17M (1.2X magnification) on my D3, but as an eyeglass wearer I struggled to see the entire viewfinder with the magnifier on. I ended up going back to the standard eyepiece.

I used the DK-17 on my D2x and found it to be incredibly useful for manual focussing . When I replaced the camera with a D3s I naturally put the DK-17 on, but gave up after a week. Like you I wear glasses and could not see the entire image, I also found that it was not really necessary-the D3s viewfinder was much easier to use with manual focus lenses.

It is worth trying though, as it is doesn't cost much. The only other option if you need a brighter image would be a replacement screen, though I have not come across any for full frame Nikons yet.
