Panasonic DMC TS4/FT4 easily leaked, is it tough enough?

I wanted to share my recent experience with Panasonic warranty service that I found shocking. I hope someone might find this useful.

I'm huge fan of brand's product (phones, tv, audio, kitchen ware, etc), for decades of zero problems level.

Recently I bought water-resistant dust-proof camera for underwater (pictures, video, happy family vacation). There was no active use elsewhere, but "rugged" Panasonic DMC-FT4 leaked on the first snorkeling in salt water (Red Sea, Sharm el-Sheikh).

Everything was according to the instruction manual. Locked side door, shallow water, 15-20 minutes. Dead brick, total disappointment on vacation.

Panasonic's service atelier refused to repair it under warranty (yep, because of water in waterproof unit), avoided to comment on cause of accident.

Online support also fruitless.

There is something odd with flash window (white crack, glue spot). Compare:

salty cracks between flash and LED lamp, some kind of glue spot, fault (original product)

should be like this

Anyone else having this problem with flash cracks and leakage?

I'm wondering if I could have conversation with japan manufacturer directly to get answers.

PS In 2013 model line layout has been changed:

2013 lumix FT5 TS25 has separate flash lamp window
