Might be too late but if you created recovery CDs at start of using Win8, you could use those to repair after selecting to boot from the CD in the BIOS setup.  Might still be worth keep hitting the F8 key during boot time to get into the Safe Mode and recover from there.  That way can use the Partitioned recover utility, assuming you have got backups of your own files of course.

Another way if you have perhaps Win7 or XP CDs is to use the CD to install so can then make repairs/recover via that OS - or at least access all own files if not backed up.  If you are at all familiar with Linux - then you could recover via that as an alternative option.

Hope something there helps you get back to a working state again quickly.
