Video mode on your still picture camera... how do you use it?

I wonder if anyone here use the video mode often, or barely use it just like me.

What I see about shooting video:

- Time consuming, in terms of time required for shooting, editing and even watching the finished video.

- It is much more difficult to capture the feel/environment vs using still picture ( i know i might be comparing an orange to a apple here, haha).

- Video is too realistic, there is too little room for audience's imagination. On the other hand, still picture leaves plenty of room for audience to define their own perception/understanding.

The only "video mode" i use is timelapse, because it is fun.

So people, what does video mode mean to you? Maybe you can convince me to use it more often.

p.s. sorry for my English, it is not my first language.
