The astrophysicist Neil Degrasse Tyson has a page dedicated to MAnhattanhenge, when the sun sets right in line with the major cross streets, for only a couple of days during the summer months. Very few places in the world have a grid like this.
By using the app TPE, I was able to figure out which days could work in the winter to do a "reverse" version at sunrise. Weather, however, kept me from achieving this. On one time in November, it was foggy, etc. This was my fourth try. I live in midtown Manhattan, but driving to Weehawken took only 10 minutes through the Lincoln tunnel at 6am
I look forward to those days in the summer....
