I would back that up, what you don't need is the bulk and learning that a dSRL needs to produce good pictures. Technique is just as important, Cameras take time to turn on and be ready but often don't use much power when on, unless there is some constant auto focsing going on. So have it turned on ready. Don't expect any camera to be picked up and be able to take a picture straight away. It needs to work out the focse and light levels first, so the half push on the go button is ideal. So what I'm saying antisipate the action don't react to it. Otherwise you will always be too late.
