If we're really lucky, a wide angle will be needed to take it all in. But the majority of naked eye comets rarely break into the double digits on their degrees of span.

There's an enormous amount of variability with how comets will appear so there is no single recommendation. But if possible, have a plan for access to at least two of these:

Fast lens

Wide angle lens

Motorized mount
