Again, where are you getting that information, photozone shows the edges are very much the same from f4 on. The Canon is indeed sharper at the edges at f2.8, but it's really only at the extreme edges that they show the Sigma falling apart. Having used both at the same time my findings are similar.

Whats the point in getting the Sigma if it can't do it's job at F2.8 and needs to be stopped down to F4 to keep up with the Canon lens?
