Olympus was unwilling to commit...

To the best of my memory, Olympus pointedly and repeatedly stated that they were not sure whether their solution to the freely-admitted problem of inadequate AF and CAF for FT lenses would be a dslr or another EVIL camera,

But they were also quite adamant in stating that the OM-D would not be their top offering, and thereby, even at the cost of some possible OM-D sales, leaving room for that new -by implication more rugged, more weatherperoof and otherwise higher specced - new camera.

Photography is a small voice, at best, but sometimes one photograph, or a group of them, can lure our sense of awareness.
