Lens quality - actual?
I was just surfing around the lens reviews the Nikon 70-200/2.8 VRII and looked at some original (I guess RAW) samples with it shot at 200mm. Being a hobbyist I didn't see much difference to my own 85/1.8D or the 80-200/2.8D (two touch) that I sold. I was not comparing them side by side but just based on a spontaneous inspection.
I don't dispute that the latest latest with the fast apertures to be better are generally are the differences seen? I was also watching a Smugmug video someone posted on Facebook re: long exposures with a couple of pro's in San Francisco doing their thing but one of them had a Canon 17-40L which is a f/4 lens and he mentioned how he shot at f/22 with may be a ND filter to get a 2 minute exposure.
