I think it is a construction problem : when I set the lens in manual focusing mode and look at the focusing scale on the LCD, I can see that I need just a little more spinning to be in focus, however the focusing mark is already hitting against the infinite limit mark and turning the ring doesn't improve focus anty more. So really it should be a tolerance problem : somehow the focusing mecanism ends its travel a little too early and can't go as far as it needs to be in focus.
