Sony a900 compared to the a700

go for it

The price is very good. Even for everyday life subjects, the 900 is a great upgrade on the 700 because it gives you better sharpness, DR, ISO noise, color when viewed/printed at the same size than the 700. According to the DxoMark the advantage is at least a full stop.

Another advantage I can see given the lenses that you have is that you recover their natural focal lengths, and they tend to behave better on FF than on APS-C because of the lesser magnification, putting less constraint on the lens sharpness. You can also microadjust them for spot-on focussing. You also get the smooth in focus/out of focus transitions that only FF can give you, and, of course, the 1.5 stop shallower DOF for equivalent angle of view.

Finally the tracking of the 900 is not on par with the recent SLT generation but it is plenty good enough for tracking playing children.

I think it's a no brainer if you have the cash at hand.
