Re: What Lens for Luggability?

I've bought, sold, and re-bought the same lens twice for just this purpose (ultra-light travel); the Panasonic 14-140mm G Vario.  I used it all over SE Asia two years ago, then sold it and bought the 14-42 PZ for a subsequent trip to Spain.  Now I'm headed to India in a few days, and I'm back to the 14-140.

I found that for my shooting style, the 14-140 just gave me a lot more options/reach without carrying lots of lenses.  It also delivers impressive image quality.  It handles well, and with the external viewfinder attached, this little kit feels and handles much like an SLR.  The 14-42 Power Zoom, while very portable, has super slow zooming, doesn't handle anything like an SLR, and had unimpressive image quality.

Although the 14-140 is heavier and bigger than the other options, I found that it paired with the 20mm 1.7 covered just about anything I want to shoot while traveling.

Enjoy your trip!
