It's not important. It's helpful, but not a deal breaker, especially for fast lenses, and those who care about images, rather than specs. For decades people have been taking amazing photos without stabilized lenses, and if someone wants the optical performance of a specific lens then the stabilization will not be a deal breaker.

And this is why the micro 4/3 consortium works.
