Sorry to disappoint you, but using FD lenses on Canon DSLR is a bad idea. First you need adapter and in case of FD lenses, this will significantly degrade the quality of the picture. Your best bet for 50mm is either use the 50 f/1.8 which is the cheapest option. Better choice would be 50 f/1.4 at about triple or more the price. If you don't mind manual focusing, I could highly recommend any OM Zuiko 50 lenses or Nikon Nikkor lenses, both OM or Nikkor are easy to mount on EOS with proper adapter and can give you very good quality. I used Nikkor 50 f/1.2 on 5DMKII and honestly was amazed by the quality of the pictures, comparable to 50L lens, worth 4 times more. Here is couple shoot with Nikkor 50 /1.2 which you can get for about 400 USD.
