Actually I had an explanation which is more satisfactory.

It is simply ISO sensitivity of Fuji is not as advertised. For instance its iso800 matches iso400 with Canon or Nikon. This is something dpreview also mention as it is always 1/2 or 1/3 stop lower values for iso shots with x-pro1

Actually, no. A difference of ISO 800 to ISO 400 would be one full stop; Dpreview's results found only 1/3 to 1/2 stop difference. That would account for the fairly minor difference in exposure in your example, especially combined with differences in contrast and white balance noted by others. The key take-away is that no two cameras are likely to render a scene exactly the same, and modest differences are to be expected.
