Re: Canon EF-S 17-55mm VS Sigma 17-50mm VS Tamron 17-50mm?

The fact that people sell a s/h 50 1.8 for $90-$100 just proves my point. You can only sell it for that because many buyers are morons. The myth that the 50 1.8 is the greatest must have lens or all time also helps, as does the Canon name on the side. But it's actually only a good lens 'for the price'.

Then people think they got the bargain of all time when they buy one online for $100 and saved $50 on the price they saw in the camera shop down the road... (ignoring that you can quite often buy it new for $100 online).

I should do that with mine every year or so... sell it just before the warranty runs out... sort of like a rental. lol. That's a joke, by the way. I wouldn't bother selling it even though it is a pain in the bum.

I still don't quite understand why you sold a 50 1.8 so you could get a 17-50? Money must have been really tight. Not sure why you would get a walk around lens as a portrait specific lens either. Anyway, it will be interesting to see if the 50 is as good as you remember it when you buy it again, but after an 85 perceptions may have changed.
