I disagree. If a 50mm was sold at the same price as the Sigma 30mm or 19mm then it could be a real bargain vs performance item. As long as image quality was as strong as the other Sigma lenses.

I'm not likely to be able to afford the Sony lens in the near future, but I'd happily pay for a Sigma 50mm to join the 19mm and 30mm I already own on my NEX-6.

Looking from the perspective of prices in my country - the Sigma's where priced at 260$ when released. Now they are more like 200-210$. The Sony does cost around 360$. So yes - it is still 100 more than the Sigma when it will be released (if) but it seems a much more versatile option. 100$ difference is certainly noticable but does not IMO create a reall market for selling this lens.
