Tripod Socket Offset Adapter for my P7700 = Homemade (cheap)

Most times I shoot my P7700 on a monopod.

Changing batteries or cards is always a pain, having to take off my quick release plate first.

I created my own adapter from 4 items in my hardware box.

The following photos explain the set up except for the requirement that the hinge holes used to connect to the camera's socket need to be drilled out to 1/4".

The other holes can be self-tapped by the screw of the quick release plate.

(Caution: drilling metal should be done by a professional if you have no experience).

Another view.

My P7700 off tripod, quick release plate screwed into the socket adapter.

the tripod socket adapter if fully visible.

You can see that a washer is between the hinge plates and a lock washer is used with the screw.

The adapter off camera.

The four parts of the tripod socket adapter.

A two inch hinge with a 1/2" screw, one washr, one lock washer, is all you need.

Notice the holes at the left are drilled to 1/4", tthe holes on the right are not drilled and tightly accept the screw of the quick release plate.

(see my warning about drilling metal).

I shot this series with my second P7700 with CLS and one SB600.

I hope some of you find this useful.
