With dogs, a shallow depth of field is a problem because of the distance between the tip of the nose and the eyes.

It was difficult to get a catchlight in both eyes due to the nature of the dogs face  (protruding snout etc). I didn't want the catchlight to be central in the eye, but I will try to find a compromise next time and position the main light more towards the front.

I did close down the aperture a little more later on, which did the trick with the nose. This was the cutest pose however and wasn't repeated quite the same later on!
