Yep, the 50 1.8 is great if you like pentagonal bokeh and don't mind a lot of missed focus

Bokeh is nicer wide open, but it's a lot softer. It is faster like that tho.

And the Tamron can have odd rings in the bokeh which I don't much like either, but it hits focus more often.

Ah the joys of lens perfection... (or lack of it). In the end I get some good shots out of all the lenses I own, even with the flaws. I suppose it comes down to what you are happy with.
