There's not one answer and it depends on what kind of photo you like, as well.

I use a 1Div for sports, mostly and your 7D has a longer reach because of the additional crop factor.

I used a 70-200 f4 for years and found it great, but you have that range.

I now have a 70-300L and it's terrfiic but it doesn't have the nice bokeh your 70-200 will have wide open.

I've a Canon 400 f5.6 L and it's also terrific and is dead sharp wide open.. but.

I have Sigma 120-300 and Sigma 300 f2.8. Both beast of lenses but these are for particular types of shots which I like.

I think your best option is the 100-400. I've never had one, but tried a friends one at a running race and I liked it. You could also try a teleconvertor, but....
