Your experiences with both the Oly 14-42 II kit lens and the Oly 12-50?

Re: The 14-42mm II R kit lens? Look elsewhere...

I was somewhat surprised with your comments re the 14-42 IIR lens as I find the one I got with my E-P3 quite good, in fact much better then I expected. It certainly is pretty good up to about 35mm and goes downhill from there.   Of course it's possible that there is some variation in the lens quality and you may have just got a bad copy (s).

It's not as good as my 4/3 14-54mm but I don't hesitate to use it when I want to travel light, with pleasing results, however I'm hanging out for a u/43 body that will PDAF my 4/3 lenses faster than my E-P3.

I was interested in the Pany 12-35mm as a zoom (partial) replacement for the 14-54mm, but frankly it's not a 14-54mm in optical quality and I think its rather overpriced.

Rgds, Rob
