Achieving infinity focus with RX100

It would be great if the RX100 could be set to infinity no matter what focal length you are using and when you can't use either manual focus or autofocus.

For example, how do you achieve infinity focus on a moonless night?

Or when photographing something like the sky and clouds in the middle of the day with insufficient contrast for the autofocus sensor and when you are constantly varying the focal length to vary the composition?  Of course, here you can always autofocus or manually focus at infinity on something contrasty in the landscape and then recompose (and do this each time you change focal lengths), but that is time consuming and a pain.

I've always wanted a camera with a zoom lens that would have an infinity button or something that would instantly set the focus at infinity regardless of what focal length you are at.  Is there such a camera?  The RX100 doesn't seem to be one unless I am missing something.
