Shooting technique refers to no image stabilisation (with many lenses) and depending on shutter speed a very stable handheld shooting technique when a tripod is not at hand.

It also refers to using the right aperture to achieve maximum resolution where you want to have it. Most lenses cannot do this trick (if at all) without stopping down even for center sharpness. Tlhere is good reason why medium format lenses are pretty expensive if they are able to deliver wide open (eg Leica S or Pentax FA 120 f4 macro).
