With DSLR your images will be worse initially

Images from a Canon DSLR come out "bland" as set by the factory, you can re-set this yourself, but you should be aware Canon assumes you are going to touch up your photos with their or other photoshop type software.

The area in focus has greater range both broader and narrower, until you learn out to use these creatively, you will have some bad shots.

There are other aspects of a DSLR that will challenge you at first, but if you hang in there, and are willing to learn, utimately you'll be better off, but the key is a willingness to learn, low desire - stick with what you have, high desire - go DSLR.
