Lexar did it for free.

The one dramatic card-failure that I had was with a Lexar card full of images in the Galapagos in 2005 (*almost* as bad as wedding photos).  Both the camera (E-1 and E-500) and the Laptop computer would only show the first image, and gave a corrupted card/unable to read message.

Lexar asked me to send in the card, and while it did take two or three weeks, they returned that or an equivalent car to me, full of completely intact and usable images.  You likely did make the right choice given the situation, but the fact that card makers do generally guarantee their products and do their best is worth bearing in mind for less urgent situations.

It's also the main reason I tend to stay with Lexar and SanDisk.

Photography is a small voice, at best, but sometimes one photograph, or a group of them, can lure our sense of awareness.
