D3200 Screen Too Bright?
I doubt that your camera is defective. A very bright screen is needed for seeing images in bright daylight, and so that feature is very much needed and desired by beginner shooters.
Now my Nikon has five brightness settings for the screen, and the darkest setting is hardly dark enough when I go shooting at night. I just deal with it, for no camera is perfect.
I would use your camera’s histograms instead to judge the exposure of your images, rather than what you see on the screen. With experience, you will be able to ‘see through’ the screen to what your final result will be.
