I've had an 85 1.4G/1.4D/1.8G and 70-200 VR1 and II, and as good as these lenses are, the 200/2 is simply on a different level. There is a reason that you pay a few thousands more with the 200/2 - the rendering, acuity, sharpness, build, bokeh, AF speed are ALL exceptional on this lens. You can shoot something half a mile away but the image remains clear and crisp - this is something I've never seen my 70-200 VRII do. Another thing about it is that it can isolate subjects even if it's just several inches away from the background. The 200/2 has so many intangible properties that you'll notice once you own one. If the 70-200 VRII is rated "10/10", the 200/2 is a 20. It is THAT good.

I have 70-200 VRII and I want 200 f/2, but i doubt i will ever be able to afford AF version; might spring for used AI, some day.
