Spent the extra moola on the black body so I got the extras... but I don't use the never-ready case or the strap... preferring a hand-strap baseplate unit that prevents the use of the case bottom. But as far as hoods go... all the time AND the Fuji filter -- I don't want flying pasta sauce, cake icing, spittle, rain, boogers, mud, yadda yadda yadda on that precious lens element!  And I've had all that crap hit my camera in the last 33 years!   Hood is what made the sale anyway...   I don't shoot LIFE or NatGeo covers (and damn few of us here do!) so what ever micro-level degradation of the image results from the coated filter I will gladly accept for the protection afforded!  Helps me carry the camera with a tiny bit more comfort and ease!
